I Feel Pretty.

Truth be told I don’t have many photos of myself as an adult. At one point, believe it or not, I was a happy, trim size 9. No longer. My vanity has gotten the best of me. (Especially after being weighed at my pre-op physical this morning.) My arms are too thick, I have that belly bulge that came back after Scout was born, and my legs aren’t as toned as they used to be, (I used to get stopped on the street receiving compliments about my “runner’s legs”). And while I should be grateful that I am healthy, (let’s face it, I’m not that healthy if I have to have yet another surgery), lately I’ve been a little OCD about my weight. So, after the surgery I will be getting my you know what together and start exercising, (I wish I could change my diet but really, aside from a Cold Stone’s here and there, my eating habits are pretty good).

But that’s neither here or there, because today I still feel quite pretty and almost a size 9, ok not really. I finished up my Ribs and Lace Tank from IK Spring 2007 and am very happy that everything worked out just as planned, (minus the fat on my arms, * sigh *).

This was knit with Karabella Aurora 8, (my first time), and I have to say it’s a great yarn. The colors are fairly extensive and I had no problem with splitting. I went down a needle size, (9’s and 4’s), but did the largest size so that the stitch definition really popped. I modified the bust a little. I added an extra 8 stitches and increased/decreased accordingly so my girls could fit in the bodice. The straps have an extra 4 stitches each to cover bra straps.

I really like the fitted bodice, the fact that I could make it larger or smaller is very appealing to the pattern too. Like many women out there, I am not a 36C, know what I mean?

Love the skirty portion of the tank. Very feminine and airy. Perfect for summer. And knit in time for summer! Who’d have thunk it?

Apart from that, I’ve been trying to calm my nerves but have failed miserably. I lose my appetite even though I feel hungry. Forget sleeping. I’ve had to double and triple my normal dose to get to sleep at night. Thursday couldn’t come any sooner I tell you!

But I did have a little reprieve with Scout this afternoon:

She loves to pick up her, (or your), shirt, point to her belly button and say, “What’s that?” Yes, she’s full on talking and damn it if she doesn’t stop because I don’t want her to grow up. I want her to stay my little baby forever and ever. And ever.

  1. What a pretty knit, and it fits you perfectly. Scout is just adorable! I feel that way about my niece – she’s only 4 months old, and I feel like she’s getting so big so soon… sigh. I hope you are able to calm down and that everything goes smoothly for you…

  2. the tank is gorgeous. you did a perfect job on it. love how the bust is fitted. the shaping is awesome. i think you can have a bit of belly, especially since you’re mother to two! hooray for you.

  3. You look great AJ! Every woman should own something that makes her feel good about herself 🙂 And even better that you *made* yourself something! You did an amazing job. And please…. don’t worry about your body so much! It helps you do all the things that you need to do and that’s all that matters 🙂

What an adorable photo of you and Scout! I can see why you’re not ready for her to grow up 🙂

If I don’t talk to you before Thursday, I’ll be wishing you well & thinking lots of good thoughts for you!

  4. You look lovely AJ – the knit is gorgeous and so is the yarn [it’s SO damn soft, isn’t it]! I hope you feel better soon – thinking of you. x
